Joe Thorn talked said not to movies on face value, but to go deeper into movies. He used Brokeback Mt. to show us that even the cowboys were gay, it also showed us what happens when you let sin rule and the effects on your life and family.

He did say that we should not see every movie, but it would seem that he would not reject the idea of watching a movie with a story line of sin, an abomination to our God, if it somehow could be turn to see the positive.

so in other words he is saying movies that focus on sin in a good light are worth watching if there you can twist something good out of it.

did I understand that right?

I want to be careful not to endorse on this blog one view or another regarding what movies to watch & which ones to avoid.
And, remember the disclaimer on the 222 blog (a link doesn't mean we agree).
Having said that...
I don't think Joe Thorn ever used the word "twist" to describe finding redemptive values in movies. However, I'd say that with many movies, you'd have to do a lot a "twisting" to find anything redemptive!
I think his main point is not to necessarily write off a movie because of it's surface issues.
You might ask Joe the same question over at his blog.
