Who are You to Judge?

On July 2nd we looked at Paul's command to stop judging one another found in Romans 14. From this chapter we considered five principles to keep us from sinfully judging:

1. Welcome the Weak
2. Make Up Your Mind
3. Build Up the Believers
4. Firm Up Your Faith
5. Glorify God

Internal Power for Lasting Patience in External Pressure

Jason Vaden was our guest speaker Thursday night and took us through Ephesians 4:1-3 as we considered how to bear with one another.

His message, entitled, "Internal Power for Lasting Patience in External Pressure" had three basic points:

1. Enduring Patience in External Pressure
2. Internal Power for Enduring Patience
3. The Eternal Person of Internal Power

Jason spoke some challenging words as he showed us how humility is the internal power for enduring patience.

Admonish One Another

Continuing in our "One Another" series, here is "Admonish One Another" from Romans 15:14 as well as a list of other "admonish" verses found in the New Testament.

Romans 15:14
Acts 20:31
1 Corinthians 4:14
Colossians 1:28
Colossians 3:16
1 Thessalonians 5:12
1 Thessalonians 5:14
2 Thessalonians 3:13-15

We learned that "admonish" is in the Greek as "noutheteo", meaning "to set in one's mind" and carries the idea of addressing another believer with the Word of God. Though often coupled with teaching, admonition always implies a problem or something that is wrong in the life of the one being confronted.

Jay Adams is probably best known for coining the term "Nouthetic Counseling" and has a good summary of this here.

Pastor Jeff - Bible Conference Audio

Last weekend Pastor Jeff Crotts had the privilege of preaching at a Bible Conference in El Paso, Texas on the topic of Holy Spirit Illumination. The conference was hosted by Grace Bible Fellowship and his long-time friend, Bill Cross, who's the associate pastor. Many of you have heard Jeff talk about Bill Cross in his many childhood stories. Jeff & Bill came to know the Lord around the same time and have remained friends for many years.

Last night we ended chapter 7 of Acts and once again someone died. This time it's not because someone lied to God, it's because someone lived for God. Have you ever wondered why Jesus stood up for Stephen as he was being stoned to death? Pastor Jeff addressed this intriguing question and took us into the incredible true story of the martyrdom of Stephen.

6. Even if you’re not a Martyr, die praying like Jesus prayed

Relationship Series:Complete & Uploaded

On January 8, 2008 we launched a series of messages on the subject of Relationships based on the book by Tim Lane and Paul Tripp. This week, May 13, we concluded our series. If you missed any of the messages, they are all (except for one I think) uploaded and available via mp3.
