A Few Blogs on the Emerging Church

Two articles just emerged (tic) out in the blogosphere on the subject of the emergent church.

Chad "Breuss Wane " Bresson reports on a recent Brian McLaren article, as well as tying in a few of D.A. Carson's thoughts.

And of course you'd know that Steve Camp is on top of this as well. He posts an article by David Green that helps us understand where McLaren is going (and where he's coming from) with an interesting re-write of Elijah and the prophets of Baal. Be sure to read the comments too, they're often just as intriguing as the article!

Bible Doctrine - Chapter 11 (Part 2)

Click the link below to open a Word doc. of Aaron's notes for Bible Doctrine, Chapter 11 (Part 2) that was taught on March 19 on the subject of the Nature of Man. The notes were actually from Grudem's Systematic Theology, chapter 23, where Grudem spend an entire chapter on this subject.
Remember, this will be a rough outline, but should assist those in Bible Doctrine Study Groups.

Aaron's Notes, Chapter Eleven (Nature of Man)

Remember to check the 222mission Calendar to find a Bible Study group near you - there are now four groups meeting: UCA, UALR, UAMS and West Little Rock.

Grudem on Men & Women

Men & Women are Wayne Grudem's specialty. Not because he's trying to start some lame "Christian Dating Service", but because he's spent a good portion of his academic career studying the similarities and differences between men & women. His colaboration with John Piper, Recovering Biblical Manhood and Womanhood: A Response to Evangelical Feminism, is a classic everyone should own.

So, in preparation for Chapter 12 in Grudem's Bible Doctrine, a great supplemental resource to check out is a presentation that Grudem gave on this very subject. Manhood and Womanhood in Creation and Marriage: 5 Key Issues was delivered at a 2004 Sovereign Grace Leadership Conference, it's also been featured on Revive Our Hearts.

There are several ways listed below to listen and/or view this message, so be sure to avail yourself of this valuable resource.

Download the PDF file of Grudem's notes/outline here (free).

Door of Hope to Present 2nd Concert

THIS FRIDAY...March 24th is a chance for God’s people to share in what is taking place on the other side of the world. Missionaries Brian and Anita Biedebach need our help and this is our chance to help them.
On March 24th, a concert will be put on by the Door of Hope ministries. Admission to the concert is free, but a love offering will be taken. All the proceeds that evening will be sent over to South Africa to the Lambano Sanctuary.

Lambano Sanctuary was founded in May 2001 by Melanie Streicher and Leon van den Berg mainly because of a calling on their lives. As Melanie could not have any children of her own the call on her life was clear when the following verses from Isaiah 54 touched her heart: "Sing O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith the Lord. Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of they habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords and strengthen thy stakes; For thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left…" (Is 54:1-3). Read more about Lambano Sanctuary by clicking here.

Please come out THIS FRIDAY, March 24th at 7pm for a night of worship featuring the band "As Through Glass" at the Bible Church of Little Rock (19111 Cantrell/Hwy 10). You can give financially towards this missions endeavor, and/or volunteer to help out. For more information and to find out how you can help with the event, email Jason Lapp.
